The essentials

Frequently asked
questions.

Where the games stand now, and what to expect as they develop.

What games is Nightkey Studios making?

We are working on On the Door, a venue entrance decision game; Aetherlink, a 2D creature adventure; and Shadowforge, an idle clicker RPG. Each game has its own page with the current build and planned areas of work.

Can I play the games yet?

Playable prototypes exist, but the games have not launched on Google Play or the App Store. The website does not currently offer a public download or playtest sign-up. We will put clear access details on the game pages when a build is ready to share more widely.

Which platforms are you targeting?

On the Door is being built for Android first, with a browser playtest version. Aetherlink's current 2D prototype runs in a browser with phone and desktop controls. Shadowforge is a portrait mobile game being developed as a browser prototype. Wider platform releases will be confirmed closer to launch.

When will the games be released?

There are no confirmed release dates yet. The projects are at different stages, and testing may change their scope or schedule. The Latest build panel on each game page is the best place to see current progress.

Will the games be free or include purchases?

Final pricing and purchase options have not been announced. Some prototypes show ideas for optional purchases or rewarded ads, but those previews are not live payment systems. We will explain the model for each game before its release.

Will my progress transfer between devices?

Cross-device cloud saving is not available in the current prototypes. On the Door currently saves progress on the device and includes manual export, import and local backup tools. Cloud saves are a future production goal, subject to account and service integration.

Will there be online multiplayer?

Online multiplayer is not part of the current playable prototypes. Aetherlink's longer-term design has explored online features, but no multiplayer release or date is confirmed.

Are the images on the site final game art?

No. The game pages show a mix of current prototype assets and concept visuals. Characters, screens and environments may change as playtesting and art production continue.
